Ryan Lochte is officially off the market.
The Olympian revealed on Instagram that he had gotten engaged to girlfriend Kayla Rae Reid on Sunday evening.
“Memories forever!!!#thelochtes #LA,” Lochte wrote alongside a photo of the couple kissing (and Reid flashing a giant diamond ring) overlooking the ocean in Malibu, California.
“Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU,” Reid responded with her own kissing photo.
Lochte’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair got engaged on Sunday after Lochte surprised his bride-to-be with a romantic proposal.
The swimmer surprised his bride to be with a private helicopter tour of Los Angeles which culminated with a sunset proposal overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Lochte proposed with a custom-designed platinum ring featuring a Radiant cut diamond, the rep confirmed. The couple has yet to set a wedding date.
Lochte first hinted that he was dating Reid when the Playboy model traveled to Rio to visit him during the 2016 Summer Olympics. Reid snuggled up with a then-silver-haired Lochte as they hung out with his parents during the Olympic games and called him her “favorite person ever” and a “silver fox.”
However shortly after the pair shared photos of each other on social media, Lochte denied that he was dating anyone in an interview on NBC.
Despite denying that he had a girlfriend — even amidst his robbery scandal in Rio — Reid stood by Lochte and even appeared in the audience during his current turn onDancing with the Stars. He later revealed that he relied on her support during his headline-making scandal and the pair had moved in together.

Before the Game in Rio, Lochte had previously said that he had been trying his luck on Tinder, explaining that he was “matching up with a bunch of gorgeous women who are smart, they have professional jobs and everything.”
Lochte previously documented his search for love on his short-lived reality show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?. As for what he’s looking for in a girlfriend, the gold medal-winning athlete previously told PEOPLE that he was looking for someone who could make him laugh.
“Honestly, if she can make me laugh, then I’m pretty much sold,” he said. “If she’s not funny, she’s taking life too seriously and that’s definitely not how I live my life. I have fun in any aspect of life.”
He also added that it was sometimes hard to find a woman who could keep up with the demanding lifestyle of a world-class swimmer.
“I’m an Olympic athlete, and there are a lot of demands I have that go on in my life,” he said. “I’m always on the road. If [women are] always depending on me to help them, or they’re not independent, that’s a big turnoff.”
